Schon, als ich noch Brigitte las, konnte ich sämtliche Anzeigen ignorieren. Aber gestern fiel mir diese ganzseitige Anzeige auf Seite 3 in der Irish Times augenblicklich ins Auge:

Grosse, klare Schrift. Ausserdem sah das auf den ersten Blick aus wie ein Gedicht. Und so las ich diesen beängstigen Text von oben bis unten. Mehrmals seither.
Dabei fand ich eindeutige Anspielungen auf Elizabeth Bishop’s berühmte Villanella One Art:
“The art of losing isn’t hard to master …
Lose something every day ….
Then practice losing farther, losing faster ….”
In der Anzeige:
“Tomorrow belongs to the fast.
Winners and losers will be decided by
how quickly they can move from what they
are now to what they will become.”
Und vorletzte Zeile:
“And we are here to help everyone go further, faster.”
Bei Sintra in Portugal bin ich vor langer Zeit mit dem Freund einer Freundin eines Freundes im Auto mitgefahren, besser: mitgerast. Ein total eingebildeter Verrückter war das. Ob er noch lebt? Jedenfalls war ich danach nie mehr wieder so froh, aus einem Auto heil herauszukommen, noch gegenwärtig zu sein.
Āhnliche Gefühle weckt diese Anzeige bei mir.
Ob der Freund hinterm Steuer damals das Gedicht von Alvaro de Campos, einem der Heteronyme von Fernando Pessoa, kannte: At the wheel of the Chevrolet to the road to Sintra?
