Immer wieder ein Impuls: Das w\u00e4<\/span>re was, wor\u00fc<\/span>ber du im Blog schreiben k<\/span>\u00f6<\/span>nntest. Then I hesitate. In what language should I write? English oder Deutsch? Und f<\/span>\u00fc<\/span>r wen eigentlich? Who do I want to address? Ich z<\/span>\u00f6<\/span>gere, ich lasse es.<\/span><\/p>\n

Then the impulse is gone, the subject slipped into the past. Ich sehe <\/span>schliesslich <\/span>keinen Sinn<\/span> mehr darin, es zu bloggen. I wouldn’t know what to achieve b<\/span>y<\/span> blogging it. <\/span>No ambition. <\/span>Keine Ambition, etwas damit zu erreichen, meine Gedanken<\/span>,<\/span> zu ver<\/span>\u00f6<\/span>ffentlichen. There’s so much written and published online. Enough. Genug.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ausserdem lese ich gerade lieber, und gucke und mache. Nicht online. The visual, the manual<\/span> in the physical world is more important right now. To write about what I read? No. Nein.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aber Sprache, die gesprochene, ist schon ein erstaunliches Ph<\/span>\u00e4<\/span>nomen. <\/span>Yet s<\/span>poken language is an amazing thing. Erkenntnis- und Kommunikationsmittel, das wir ohne Lehrer und Lektionen<\/span> lernen (sofern unsere Sinne und Organe nicht beeintr<\/span>\u00e4<\/span>chtigt sind). Cognition and com<\/span>m<\/span>unication tool that doesn’t need any material resources, apart from us and unimpaired organs and senses.<\/span> We learn it by observation and doing.<\/span> As sustainable as hardly anything else can be that we produce. So nachhaltig wie kaum etwas anderes, das wir produzieren. <\/span><\/p>\n

I’m glad that my hearing wasn’t yet impaired when I learned to speak English as a second language<\/span> that way. Schulunterricht konnte das nicht leisten.<\/span> Having learned one or more languages that way is the basis of learning to read and write. Und damit dann k<\/span>\u00f6<\/span>nnen wir lesen und schreiben lernen. <\/span>T<\/span>his then enables <\/span>u<\/span>s to learn more about the world from others. Ohne selbst erleben und erfahren zu m<\/span>\u00fc<\/span>ssen.<\/span><\/p>\n

But today there’s so much on offer, so much written, vor allem online, that it’s hard to know fact from the noise and the lies. Papier ist geduldig, und mehr so der Bildschirm. Social media are horribly loud.<\/span><\/p>\n

Darum z<\/span>\u00f6<\/span>gere ich<\/span>. That<\/span>‚<\/span>s why I<\/span> hesitate to add to the ill-sounding digital cacophony.<\/span><\/p>\n
